As a Wholly Owned Subsidiary of Tuckers Air Conditioning and Heating, Furnace Filters to your Door has one goal in mind. To ease the burden of purchasing and remembering when to replace you’re heating and cooling filters.
As a contractor, we have found the greatest cause of heating and cooling interruption to be from inadequate maintenance of the HVAC system. A big step towards the maintenance of your system is to replace your furnace filters per manufacturer specifications.
Not changing your furnace or air conditioner filter at regular intervals can decrease equipment operating efficiency by twenty percent or more. A filter that is left in an air conditioning or heating system for extended periods of time can reduce airflow to the point of causing costly equipment breakdowns.
In order to make this process as convenient as possible we have found the best reminder to replacing you’re furnace filters is to deliver them directly to your door when its time to replace them. For the typical HVAC system we sell 1” pleated air filters with Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) ratings of 6, 8, 11 & 12 which last up to 90 days depending on the needs of your home and its occupants.
What is a MERV Rating?
MERV is an industry standard rating, so it can be used to compare filters made by different companies.
The MERV rating number measures a filter's ability to trap particles ranging in size from 3.0 microns to 10.0 microns.
Residential filters commonly have MERV ratings of 1-12. The higher the MERV rating, the more efficient the filter is, and the more particles it can filter.
A MERV rating of 6 means the filter is 35% to 50% minimum efficient at capturing the measured particles.
A MERV rating of 8 means the filter is 70% to 85% minimum efficient at capturing the measured particles.
A MERV rating of 11 means the filter is 85% to 95% minimum efficient at capturing the measured particles.
