Once Again: Time for AC Maintenance!

air-conditioner-condenser-3D-render

We love it when we can tell our customers that it’s time to schedule annual maintenance for their air conditioning in Frederick, MD. Why? Because it means that warm weather is almost here! It’s also an opportunity for us to best serve our customers, because inspecting, tuning-up, and maintaining their cooling equipment is one of the most vital jobs we offer. The benefits of it are tremendous, and it means happy customers who keep cool (for less) through the summer.

No, we’re not overselling it! Maintenance is something all HVAC contractors recommend, as well as all HVAC industry organizations and the US Department of Energy. When you join our maintenance plan (Tuckers Ultimate Service Agreement), you’ll receive numerous benefits. Here are the major ones:

A longer service life for your air conditioning system

“How much difference can an annual tune-up really make?” you might think. Plenty! An air conditioner goes through immense wear each summer as it works to move heat from inside a home and then distribute the cooled air left behind throughout the rooms. Without regular care to clean and adjust it, the strain will cause the AC to age rapidly. Rather than last 10 to 15 years, this un-maintained AC may only last 5 to 8 years.

A much smaller number of repair needs

We’re always glad to help you when your AC is malfunctioning and needs professional repairs. It’s a big part of why we’re here. But wouldn’t you rather not have to call us because your AC sails through the summers without incident? Of course, and maintenance can help you achieve this because it prevents the majority of repair issues. And when your AC does need repairs, those fixes will likely be smaller and less expensive because of maintenance.

Lower-cost cooling

An air conditioning system’s energy efficiency is measured as SEER, or seasonal energy efficiency. This efficiency will begin to drop if the system doesn’t have its routine maintenance appointments, and loss of efficiency means more expensive cooling. After only a few years, an AC with 16 SEER will act like an AC with 12 SEER instead, meaning you’ll pay much more to run it than you should. And that decline will keep going until the air conditioner’s untimely demise.

Few “no-cool” surprises

The last thing you want to happen with your air conditioner during the summer is for it to abruptly stop working. The risk of this occurring is much smaller if the system is maintained right before the summer starts, and this will do wonders for your peace of mind.

The warranty remains in force

Voided equipment warranty can leave you stuck paying for a repair due to a manufacturer fault with your AC. That’s expensive! Maintenance will keep the warranty good for its full allotment, keeping this important consumer protection in force. (Did you know that around 2% of all air conditioning systems leave the factory with some type of fault? This is why warranties exist.)
