The Benefits of Ductless Air Conditioning

Central air conditioning has plenty of benefits, which is why it’s the single most popular form of air conditioning in the country. However, just because it’s popular doesn’t mean it’s the best option for everybody. There are a wide variety of ways to keep your home cool during the summer, one of which is ductless air conditioning. Let’s take a look at what ductless air conditioning is, and the benefits that you can garner from installing it in your home.

What is Ductless Air Conditioning?

A ductless air conditioning system, as you might expect, is a system that cools the home without using ducts. Instead of a duct network, a ductless air conditioner relies on a series of smaller air handlers installed in each room of the house. These air handlers fulfill the same role that a central air conditioner’s indoor unit would: evaporating refrigerant to absorb heat while circulating air. The refrigerant gas is then sent down the refrigerant line to an outdoor unit, where it is condensed to release the heat outside of the house. Up to 4 indoor units can be connected to a single outdoor unit.

The Benefits

There are a number of reasons to install ductless air conditioning in your home. For one thing, ductless air conditioners don’t have to worry about duct leaks, which account for massive energy losses in many centralized air conditioning systems. Another advantage is that ductless air conditioning systems have a separate thermostat for each unit. This allows you to actually set an ideal temperature for each room of your house, something that is much more difficult for central air conditioning systems.
